New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety

The New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety (DHTS) is responsible for the administration of the federally-funded State and Community Highway Safety Program and coordination of highway safety activities. DHTS is responsible for establishing goals to reduce motor vehicle crashes using performance measures based on assessments of the roadway environment.

The New Jersey Highway Safety Plan (HSP) is required by federal law to serve as a framework for setting performance goals and measures for reducing traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries, and creating a safer and more efficient transportation system.
