Membership in the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police
There are 7 categories of membership in the NJSACOP:
1. Active Members: Police Chiefs of municipal or county police agencies, or parallel sworn law enforcement executive of any state or federal law enforcement agency located within New Jersey.
2. Associate Members: Other chief executives of any other law enforcement organization which by nature of its activity, or by reason of his/her training and experience in law enforcement.
3. Life Members: Active and Retired Members with 20 years continued membership in good standing.
4. Retired Members: Any Active member who has retired on pension.
5. Corporate Members: Persons representing firms having a valid interest in the advancement of the police profession.
6. Private Security Members: Security practitioners who are responsible, in whole or in part, for the security function of a business or other institution.
7. Provisional Members: "Acting", "Interim" or "Provisional" Police Chiefs of a municipal or county police agency, or parallel sworn law enforcement executive of any state or federal law enforcement agency located within New Jersey, who are awaiting permanent appointment.
