In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, reports are being received of New Jersey law enforcement officers that have sustained serious injuries in the performance of their duties both during the storm and during the continuing effort to serve and protect their communities.
The New Jersey Police Chiefs Foundation - the charitable affiliate of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police - has establisihed a Hurricane Sandy Injured Officer Assistance Fund to provide some assistance to these officers to enable them and their families to address those incidental costs that inevitably follow a serious work-related injury (that is, those expenses over and above the ones covered by their employer).
NJ Chiefs are encouraged to send along pertinent information to the NJSACOP State Office if they wish to nominate any officer(s) for consideration. Please provide the officer(s)'s name, rank, agency, injury sustained, date of injury, and any details about the incident leading to the injury.
The information can be provided via email (njsacop@njsacop.org) or by mail to the NJSACOP State Office located at 10,000 Lincoln Drive East, One Greentree Centre, Suite 201, Marlton, NJ 08053.
The actual amount of support to be provided to injured officers will be determined by the level of support that the Foundation is able to generate for the Fund.
Questions can be addressed to the NJ Police Chiefs Foundation Program Manager, Jennifer Conover at jconover@njsacop.org.
