NJ Motor Vehicle Commission Advisory
(July 20, 2007)

Due to a computer error, change of address stickers affixed to registration and driver licenses may contain inaccurate information for residents living in Millstone.  Motorists residing in zip code 08535 received change of address stickers printed with the zip code 07726.  Please be advised that the MVC is looking to correct this error and that the other information on the driver license is accurate.

NJ Department of Personnel RICE Bill

Eligibility Information:

Are you a police officer employed in a non-civil service jurisdiction and facing a layoff?

Are you aware of the "Rice Bill" also known as Statewide Law Enforcement Officer Eligible Listing,  NJSA 40A:14-180 and is administered by the NJ Department of Personnel?

The Rice Bill is legislation passed into law which permits trained law enforcement officers who meet the following criteria to be hired in a Civil Service jurisdiction:

1.  Served as a law enforcement officer, other than a Special LEO or seasonal LEO, in good standing in any State, county or municipal law enforcement department or agency;
2.  In the case of service with the State, or a county or municipality operating under Title 11A, NJSA, satisfactorily completed a working test period in a law enforcement title;
3.  In the case of service with a county or municipality not operating under Title 11A, NJS, satisfactorily completed a comparable, documented probationary period in a law enforcement title;
4.  For reasons of economy, efficiency or other related reasons, was laid off, or demoted from a law enforcement title to a non-law enforcement title, within 60 months prior to the appointment permitted in (a) above.
